The Crystal Tub
Showcased on the news recently, a crystal bathtub costing $790,310 (£530,000) was on display at Harrods in Knightsbridge, England. The crystal, mined from Brazil’s Amazon region, is pure white rock crystal. The same quarry produced a second cut of rock crystal large enough to create another bathtub. The first tub, created in 2008, sold with a price tag of $850,000. The designer of both bathtubs, Luca Bojola, left the outside walls of the tubs intentionally rough to showcase the natural beauty of the crystal. The bathtub joins the ranks of fellow expensive bathroom furnishings like the pure gold toilet, a turquoise malachite bathtub, and the TOTO Neorest 600.
